Synopsis
There once was a boy named Peter who was very bored with his ordinary life. He wished so desperately that something exciting would happen.
One day, he wakes up to find scorch marks in his yard and smells burning.
Peter follows the scorch marks to find a baby dragon in distress and unable to fly. The baby dragon told the boy that he was flying with his friends when he got tired and fell behind. Just then, Peter’s cat Jasper appeared and started speaking as well. Jasper suggested that he, Peter and Flame (the revealed name of the dragon) go speak with a nearby horse.
The horse directed them to his friend in the woods who turned out to be a unicorn. The unicorn was willing to take Flame home and Peter went for the rise as well.
Once home, Flame was greeted by other dragons and Peter headed back with the unicorn. Peter was happy to be home but once he turned from the unicorn, he disappeared and in his place was a regular horse.
On his way home, he realized that all the burnt grass was now gone and Jasper refused to speak. However, Jasper gives a knowing look suggesting that he knows exactly what is going on.
Lessons & Takeaways
Seek Adventure
Nothing interesting is going to happen to you if you don’t leave your house. Peter was curious enough to follow the smell of smoke and burnt grass. Because of this, he was rewarded with an epic adventure.
Often people want big things to happen to them but if you hide away from the world, the world is not going to seek you out for adventure. It’s all too easy to become complacent and comfortable within the four walls of our homes, oblivious to the vast array of experiences that await us outside. Yet, adventure, discovery, and personal growth often lie in the path less taken.
By venturing beyond our comfort zones, we open ourselves up to a world of possibilities and unforeseen opportunities. Peter, in his moment of curiosity, exemplified this courageous spirit. He could have easily ignored the scent of smoke and brushed it off as someone else’s problem, but his inquisitive nature led him down a thrilling path.
The beauty of venturing into the unknown is that it awakens our senses, ignites our imagination, and challenges our preconceived notions. It allows us to break free from the monotony of everyday life and experience the thrill of the unexpected. In doing so, we develop a broader perspective and discover the vast potential that lies within us.
The Importance of Being Helpful
Poor Flame was distraught and left behind. Peter did the right thing by going out of his way to get him back home. He was rewarded by getting to see Dragonland but I believe that Peter would have helped regardless. You should always help if you have the capability to do so and maybe someday someone will turn around and help you when you need it.
